Tuesday afternoon. Frederick, MD. (Click to show/hide comments)
A short sightseeing trip around the city of Frederick, MD which revealed to me some of the vast
holes in my knowledge of my own country. Such as the words attributed to one
Barbara Fritchie and when
the national anthem became the national anthem.
A touching moment came before we left on the tour. Local law enforcement officers blocked off traffic
to allow our rather cumbersome convoy to traverse the tiny intersections in one part of town. The officers
saluted the veterans as they passed, and several of the men were deeply touched by their gesture.
